Your voice belongs here.

FACES connects families, youth, and community members with the researchers and health organizations whose work affects their lives.

What we believe

The best health research and programs are shaped by the people they are designed to serve. FACES is built on the belief that this only works as a genuine two-way relationship, where families are recognized for the knowledge they bring, and researchers/health organizations gain insights they couldn't access alone.

We find the right opportunities for you, prepare you to participate with confidence, and work with the teams you join to help create an environment where you feel safe and confident sharing your perspective so that your voice doesn't just get heard, it shapes what happens next.

What does getting involved look like?

Being matched with the right project

FACES takes the time to understand your experience and connect you with research or programs where your perspective will genuinely matter.

Being part of the process — on your terms

There is no single way to be involved. FACES works with you to find a role that fits your schedule, your comfort level, and what you want to contribute. You are always in control of your involvement.

Being respected and recognized

FACES is committed to ensuring youth, family, and community partners are fairly compensated for their time and expertise. Your contribution is valued and treated that way.

Who we’re looking for

FACES works with family members, caregivers, youth, and representatives from community organizations who have lived experience navigating health systems, health challenges, or research programs; particularly in areas of childhood disability, neurodevelopmental conditions, pediatric health, and community health and wellness. You don’t need a research background. You don’t need academic language. You need lived experience that a research team or health organization needs to hear and a willingness to share what that experience has taught you.

What to expect

• A clear explanation of any opportunity before you commit to anything • Flexibility in how and when you participate • A safe, respectful environment where your perspective is genuinely welcome • Fair compensation for your time and expertise • Regular updates so you can see how your input is being used

Get in touch

Whether you’re a family member, caregiver, young person, or community organization, we’d love to hear from you. Send us a short email telling us a little about yourself and what kinds of involvement interest you. No obligation, no pressure. We’ll take it from there at whatever pace works for you.
